In 2002, a group of expatriates founded the “Association of Expatriates of Letympou, in the Lefkosia District”. The registration of the Association by the superintendent of Associations and Foundations took place on January 9th 2003 with Identification Number 2530. Their primary goal was the village’s development as well as the improvement of the residents’ quality of life.
The Association’s Board of Directors consists of the following persons:

The objectives of the Association are:
a) To coordinate the efforts and activities of people who come from Letympou and to enlighten them.
b) To inform them about the condition of their birth place and generally about the condition in Cyprus.
c) To inform them about the part that they can play in the common struggle for the progress of Letympou and Cyprus in general.
d) To reinforce and tighten the bonds between the expatriates of Letympou with their village and Cyprus.
e) Closer cooperation among expatriates of Letympou from all over the world.
f) Cooperation with other Associations of Expatriates both in Cyprus and abroad.
g) To promote developmental, cultural and social projects for the progress and welfare of Letympou and to combat rural depopulation.
h) To organize events both in Letympou and outside the Community in cooperation with the Community Council.
i) To salvage and preserve our folkways and cultural heritage.
j) To protect the natural environment.
k) To issue informative and other enlightening bulletins or to release publications which aim to project the village, to inform the expatriates about the problems and news of the village and to promote matters that concern the village and the expatriates of Letympou.
l) The Association aims at all the aforementioned within legal boundaries and away from any political stances.
As mentioned earlier, the basic aim and concern of the Association of Expatriates since its establishment has been the development of the village and the improvement of the residents’ quality of life. As the President of the Association of Expatriates has mentioned within the scope of fulfilling this aim, the following have been achieved:
a) Promotion, in cooperation with the Community Council, of the developmental project regarding the formation of the central square and the construction of community buildings such as the Community Infirmary, the Community Council’s offices and the Events’ Hall. The same project includes the maintenance of the Primary School building as well as the conversion of two of its classrooms into exhibition halls.
b) Restoration of the stone-built enceinte of the historical church of Saint Kyrikos by the Department of Antiquities.
c) Promotion of the project “EMERGENCE AND PROJECTION OF THE CHURCH OF SAINT KYRIKOS IN LETYMPOU AND IKARIA” which is part of the cross-border programme for Community Initiative INTERREG IIIA/GREECE-CYPRUS and has set as goals:
i. To emerge and project the orthodox ecclesiastical tradition and the ecclesiastical heritage through modern technology.
ii. To emerge and project the cultural, historical and natural wealth of the area.
iii. The international projection and recognition of both the community and the surrounding area.
iv. To attract religious tourism.
v. The cultural upgrade and economic growth of the community and the area in general.
d) To initiate a study of all the religious monuments by the Department of Antiquities.
e) To organise the annual “Festival of Resi” on a permanent basis, always in cooperation with the Community Council. The establishment of the Festival will undoubtedly contribute to the salvation and preservation of both our folkways and cultural heritage.
f) To organize the Easter games on a permanent basis.
